Shake Up Your Shrimp with these Recipes

This is an affiliated post. All opinions expressed are in agreement with my own.

My husband is allergic to shrimp, so we don’t cook it, but I know many friends who think shrimp is delicious. There are so many different ways that you can enjoy them. Not only are they simple to cook, but they soak up the other flavors around them. From the delicious blackened shrimp by Grits and Pinecones to any of the delectable options below - one thing is for sure; you’ll have shrimp on your mind for the rest of the week!

Why is shrimp great?

If you don’t often cook shrimp, then you’re missing out. Not only are they healthy, but they can add a meaty element to your dishes without requiring you to add something heavier like pork or beef.

They take on so many different flavor profiles, from rich and creamy sauces to something sweet and buttery. You can grab shrimp straight from the freeze, and they’re ready quickly - and they can last months in the freezer too. While shrimp are low in calories, they are high in terms of nutritional benefits

And best of all? Super quick to cook, so perfect for a weeknight treat.

Grilled

Sometimes it is the simple dishes that are the best, and grilled shrimp offer that simplicity. If you don’t have metal skewers, now is the time to invest.

Grab some butter and your favorite seasoning and spice. Add some crushed garlic and coat the prawns in the mixture.

Pop them under the heat, on the BBQ, or under the broiler/grill for about 10 minutes, and you’ll have amazing, tasty grilled shrimp.

Tacos

If you believe in taco Tuesday, you’ll be delighted with these. Swap out your usual chicken or fish taco mix and replace it with shrimp.

Shrimp works very well with lemon and limes, and for this dish, you’ll need three limes. Make a lime crema with sour cream and lime juice - grate some of the rinds in too.

Whole wheat tortillas are one of the best options for your wrap, white is great, but brown brings a new level of texture and flavor.

Mix grated cabbage, red onion, beans, and cilantro in a bowl with some olive oil and lime juice.

Slice up an avocado.

For the shrimp, keep it simple and saute them for a few minutes on each side.

Once everything is prepared and cooked, layer your taco up and chow down.

Shrimp and Zucchini pasta

If you don’t want to use spaghetti or tagliatelle, then make your own zucchini noodles with a spiralizer for this one. Saute your shrimp in a pan with butter, crushed garlic pepper, salt, and a pinch of chili. Try and allow them to get that slightly crispy bottom.

Cook your pasta or zucchini paste as you normally would - for a few minutes in boiling water.

Drain the pasta, and add it to the pan with the shrimp; toss a few times. Add a squeeze of lemon, and if you want, some cream.

Top with some parsley for a refreshing dish that is fast and fresh!
