Entering into a new year is the perfect time to get your home looking spick and span. It’s easy for the mess to build up over Christmas and you may be left wanting to deep clean your house so you have the best start to 2023. However, there are few things that most people forget to do.

Here are some tips to make sure you don’t kick yourself when you forget something.

Pots and Pans

They should be one of the first things we pay attention to when we’re cleaning but they always get left off the list. Since we use them to cook and eat, our pots and pans should be carefully taken care of but that’s rarely the case. If it’s been a while since you’ve deep cleaned your pots and pans, you’ll need some specialist products.

Look for cutting board and casting iron pans care cleaning products to ensure your cutting boards and pans last you as long as they’re supposed to.

Machine Wash

Your washing machine and dishwasher are in constant use. They’re cleaning your cookware and dining ware, as well as the clothes you put on your body. If they’re not clean, you’re not clean.

While deep cleaning your home, don’t forget about the machines. If they have a self-cleaning option be sure to make use of it. If not, pick up some machine cleaning products and run the machine on a short wash cycle with hot water to kill off any bacteria lingering.

Curtains

Many people forget about taking curtains down and washing them multiple times throughout the year. You may find that your curtains pick up dust and hair more easily than other linen which is why it’s so important to keep them clean. They add to the pollution of indoor air if they aren’t cleaned regularly.

Put them on a curtain wash in your washing machine or a delicate wash if curtain wash isn’t an option. Once they have been washed and dried, use a lint roller to remove remaining hair or dust.

Under Beds

It’s surprising how much bacteria can lurk under beds when they aren’t cleaned regularly. When you don’t clean under your bed, the buildup of dust and fluff can be an invitation for pests. Be sure to move your bed from one spot to another so you have an opportunity to thoroughly clean the space before you return it.

Wash Carpets

Vacuuming your carpets and rugs is one thing but washing them will bring another level of cleanliness to your home. Washing your carpets will ensure you remove and kill any bacteria or mites in fibres. You can hand wash small rugs with some warm soapy water and a scrubbing brush and then leave them to dry outside on a dry day.

However, you may need to invest in a carpet cleaner or hire a professional to wash carpet throughout your home. It’s a big task but it can leave your carpet feeling and looking fresh.
