Toddler Fun: Watercolor Resist Painting

Now that my boys are in school, my toddler and I are always looking for stuff to do to keep entertained. One day we decided to try watercolors, with a twist...a bit of watercolor resist art!

She loved it! After 1/2 an hour she was done, so I was able to save it for another day, and I got to paint with her too.

Just put some painter's tape on a piece of paper. We used card-stock so it would have greater odds of survival :).

Then show your toddler how to use water and the paint and let them work their magic. I stripped my daughter down to her diaper and used washable watercolors to make clean up much easier.

She would paint some, then insist on me having a turn.

Once the painting is covered to your (and your toddler's) desire, let it dry.

Carefully peel off the tape to show the white hidden underneath. Ours did peel a bit of the paper, but it was a fun activity and she was SO PROUD of her painting. It was the perfect craft for my toddler...simple to do and simple to clean up.

I adapted this from Heart of Deborah's post to fit with supplies we already had on hand and will definitely try it on canvas sometime :). I’ll be linking up to Making Your Home Sing Sunday, Clever Chicks Blog Hop, Best Mom Advice,
