Popsicle Stick Bird Feeder

School will be out before we know it, and if you’re looking for a fun, easy craft to keep your kids entertained, try making a popsicle stick bird feeder! Popsicle Stick Bird Feeder @ whatilivefor.net
Here is what you will need:
  • A lot of popsicle sticks (we used narrow popsicle sticks)
  • Wood glue (school glue won’t work!)
  • Yarn or other string
  • Paper clip
  • Newspaper to protect your work surface
We will be making this similarly to our popsicle stick box. First, lay popsicle sticks next to each other until you have made a nice little square.IMG_1423 Then, put wood glue along one popsicle stick and lay it across your “square”. Make sure glue gets on every stick. Repeat for the opposite side.IMG_1424 Now, you can glue a popsicle stick or two to the bottom so that they stick out like a little perch, or just skip this step.Popsicle stick bird feeder @ whatilivefor.net Take popsicle sticks and glue them in a “log-cabin” style, alternating sides until your bird feeder is as tall as you want it. Let the glue dry.Popsicle stick bird feeder @ whatilivefor.net Cut four lengths of yarn. Use a paper clip or safety pin to thread the yarn between the slats/popsicle sticks on the bottom of your bird feeder in each corner.Popsicle stick bird feeder @ whatilivefor.net Bring the yarn together and tie in a knot.Popsicle stick bird feeder @ whatilivefor.net Fill with bird food and hand up outside for your feathery friends to enjoy. You can look up what birds you find at sites like National Geographic and continue the learning all summer long!Popsicle stick bird feeder @ whatilivefor.net I’ll be linking up to Works for Me Wednesday, Mom’s Library, Clever Chicks Blog Hop, Share It Saturday, The Mommy Club, We Made That Wednesday, Whatever Goes Wednesday. 2. So cute! I remember making something like this out of popsicle sticks as a kid (a jewelry box, maybe?). What a clever idea to make a bird feeder with them!
