I bought my husband a ladder for his birthday and it came in a gloriously huge cardboard box! This time, we created a pick-up truck :)
All I had to do was cut the flaps off the back half of the truck to make a bed.
The flaps on the front half made the hood and side of the cab. I then used the flaps I cut off to make the roof of the cab.
When K got home from Kindergarten, he insisted that we needed a hood ornament. We used the rest of the cut off flaps to make:
- Tires which we painted black and glued foil in the middle for the requisite hubcaps.
- A steering wheel which was attached with a paper clip.
- Mirrors (both side-view and rear-view) were cut with foil glued in the middle to make a shiny/reflective surface.
- An exhaust pipe, again, insisted on by my 5 year old
We painted license plates and lights on the front and back and took it outside for a little drive :).

ReplyDeleteI love this!!! We just bought new chairs from Pottery Barn so I have two huge boxes :) My son will love this -- maybe tonight I'll make it :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely ADORABLE. It reminds me of this icecream cart Halloween costume for a wheelchair person, which would be another fabulous project to make out of a cardboard box. See http://www.finecraftguild.com/halloween-costumes-wheelchair/. Like this?? I thought you might! Thank you for linking your great truck up with us!
