No matter how bizarre your family is, there is almost some reason to be grateful for them. There's always a funny story to laugh about for years after the fact...we always threaten my parents when they do something hilarious that we're putting it in our funeral archives, to save and share at their funerals. My poor mother, as prim/properly British as she tries to be, smiles with a look of dismay at our shenanigans.
The funny thing is, when you think your family is just so bizarre that no one could possibly understand, and years later you sit down to talk with someone and they practically share your past because their family was just as bizarre.
American Family Insurance has compiled several short video clips of some of today's hottest comedians sharing their family's pasts called FamilyStand Up For Family...I remember the days of running home before the streetllghts turned on as Bill Bellamy talked about. Most of the comedians are hilarious and family friendly, though for a program that is meant for the entire family, I was disappointed at the swear words that occasionally pop up with some of the comedians. I applaud AmFam for their efforts to stand up for the family and remind society about what is important, but I would applaud even louder if I didn't have to worry about what words my children might pick up on.
