“The Dragons Of Chiril” Book Review

After her father disappears and her mother seems to lose her grasp with the real world, Tipper is forced to take over the care of her mother and their estate with guidance from the grand parrot Sir Beccaroon. When finances run low, she has no choice but to sell her father’s renowned artwork.

Years later, Tipper’s father suddenly reappears but is in dire need of three pieces of art which were sold long ago. Without those statues, his life and the entire world face the threat of destruction. Soon, Tipper finds herself on a quest with her father, a wizard, a librarian, Sir Beccaroon and several more unlikely companions. Together, they share adventures and learn more about the world than they could have ever imagined.

The Dragons of Chiril by Donita K Paul is a fun, easy read that kept me entertained and guessing on every page. The characters were likeable in their own ways and I loved that the religious undertones were subtle enough that many of the teachings could be applied to any religion or way of life. The characters both learned valuable lessons and taught them to the reader without this book ever feeling preachy.

All in all, Dragons of Chiril is an engaging fantasy book that left me curious about other books by Paul. I loved that this book ended without leaving the reader hanging, but still has plenty of room for a story to continue. If you are looking for a book to read this summer, pick this one up.
