“Lilies in Moonlight” Book Review

Sometimes, it’s fun to step into a new life and escape from all of your worries and cares. I’m not just talking about the joy of entering a new world through a good book…the main character in the book Lilies in Moonlight stumbles from poverty into a life of wealth and luxury where she learns of love and healing.

The beautiful young flapper finds herself trying to sell cosmetics door to door in the 1920’s. Life is rough for this beauty as she wonders how she will even pay rent or afford her next meal. After a late night party with friends, Lily is discovered drunk and with a sprained ankle in the backyard of a millionaire’s widow suffering from dementia, and her son wounded in the Great War. This unlikely family allows Lily into their home and treat her with respect and kindness…the likes of which she has never received before.

I fell in love with the three main characters as their relationships developed and they each found ways to help each other deal with and overcome their painful pasts. There was very little swearing in this book, and the authors did a wonderful job incorporating religion without making this book “preachy” or difficult for readers of various religions to relate to and enjoy.

If you’re looking for a simple, enjoyable read this summer, look into Lilies in Moonlight by Allison Pittman.

I received this book for free from  WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.
