“Life, In Spite of Me” Book Review

imageAfter opening the book “Life, In Spite of Me”, I really struggled to put it down, taking it everywhere with me and reading it every chance I had!

When Kristen Anderson was only 17, she had been dealt enough tragedy to send her spiraling deeper and deeper into self-doubt, loneliness and depression. By looking at the beautiful, happy girl on the cover of this book, no one would ever guess the darkness that had become a seemingly permanent fixture in her life, leading her to believe that only suicide could end it all and bring her peace.

With an honest and straightforward attitude, Kristen tells the horrors of not only her suicide, but the depression that ensued when she failed, and struggled to lead a new life…without her legs.

Kristen’s story is heartbreaking, captivating and inspiring. By the last page of this book, any reader can and should walk away with renewed peace, faith and hope for their own future.

At times, the details are horrific and I honestly found it difficult to read on, but truly loved this book. If anyone is struggling with thoughts of depression, or just feeling like life will never get better, “Life, In Spite of Me” will change your perspective entirely. Please, read it! Learn of how Kristen found new life and even learned to be grateful for the struggles she faced, because they led her to where she is now…helping others and happier than she could have ever imagined, thanks to God.

I am so thankful to have received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.

  1. Wow, it sounds like an interesting read. We can learn to be grateful for the struggles in our lives. I'm grateful for my experience with cancer... sounds crazy, I know. But, honestly, it made many positive changes in my life.

Thanks for sharing this book review.
