I assume, and hope I’m not the only mother who gets impatient with her children. One of the things that drives me most nuts is how K will sit and play in the water instead of washing his hands after going potty. He can stay in there for half an hour if I let him.
Instead of spanking or other punishments which are not effective with him, I have started warning that I am going to tickle him if he doesn’t finish by the time I reach a certain number.
By the time I reach that number, he’s done and giggling, and I have calmed down. If he doesn’t finish, I get to tickle him and everyone ends up laughing even more. It doesn’t always work, but it sure beats being angry or frustrated.
Laughter instead of frustration…that’s what works for me.
laughter is the best medicine. love this!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea!! Channeling your frustration into something positive must make your home a fun place to be! :)
