TEKS Safety Course Review

imageThanks to Business to Blogger and TEKS, I was able to take the safety course that TEKS offers: Be Aware. Be Strategic. Be Safe!

This course does not attempt to teach the participant martial arts, or anything of the sort via internet, but focuses on ways to avoid dangerous situations, and what to do if you find yourself in a potentially dangerous situation. TEKS was founded to teach situational awareness in order to increase personal and practical safety. On TEKS’ website, they quoted Randy Lattai who said “The best self defense is when nothing happens.”

Many of the ideas/concepts introduced in this course were not foreign to me, but provided a better understanding of the concepts. Instead of just knowing to avoid being in dark parking lots alone, I am now able to understand why I shouldn’t, and what to do if I find myself in that situation.

During the course there are stories, statistics, diagrams, summaries and games to help review the concepts. At any point in the course, the participant can pause if needed, and resume whenever they have the opportunity to later.

The only complaint I have about this course is that I felt it could have gone further into depth, better explaining some concepts. But, for a basic course, I felt that this was thorough without being too overwhelming.

Anyone, especially women, who wants to learn to be more aware of their surroundings and to better understand how to keep themselves safe should seriously consider taking this course. I was able to do the majority of it in one sitting and truly feel that the time I spent on this course was well spent.

Thank you TEKS for helping me better understand how to keep myself, and my children safer by being more aware of my surroundings.

Disclosure: I was not compensated for writing this review but was allowed to take this safety course for free. All of the opinions stated herein are honestly and completely mine.
