Milk Jug Skeleton

Due to a death in the family, I haven't been crafting much, but you know when someone loves crafts when they feel the need to craft even when they're out of town. You also know when your mom loves you when she is willing to call around to her friends and see who has empty milk jugs of all things :)

I'd like to introduce you all to Horace:

Seriously, if you have any empty milk jugs whip one of these cute little guys up for this weekend!

All you need is: 3 milk jugs (gallon size), permanent marker, scissors, xacto knife (or similar cutting tool), needle and thread (or wire if you have it on hand).

With your first milk jug, use the circles on the sides as eyes, or draw your own eyes and cut them out. Using your marker, draw a mouth and cut that out too.

With your second jug, draw and cut out ribs. Cut along the bottom of the rib cage as shown in the picture below.Take your third jug and cut the top portion off just below where it becomes the main jug, but cut the handle a bit longer (again, see the picture below). Tape the handle of the second jug to the handle of the third jug.

Using the extra plastic of the jugs, cut out arm and leg bones as well as hands and feet. I actually traced my 4 year old’s hands and feet and they were almost the perfect size!

With a needle and thread, string the limbs together and tie securely. If you have wire on hand, you can use that as well. I would suggest using a thick thread or doubling your thread to make your bony little friend extra secure.

 

Sew/tie/whatever you wish to call this surgical feeling procedure the head to the torso, and sew/tie/whatever the limbs to the torso/pelvic bone.

Hang your friend up and be super proud of your free green Halloween friend!
