Feed Me Books Friday: What I'm Reading

After reading sing-song children's books, or dinosaur atlases (more on that another time) forever, I love to sit down when my boys are in bed and read. I have to limit how often I get to read a book though, because once I start I have a horrible time stopping and will often stay up into the wee hours of the morning reading that last little bit. Maybe I lack enough self control?

I have to admit, even during the day, I have a hard time putting a book down once I've started reading and my kids often sigh and beg me to stop reading my books and play with them. See? I really have to limit how often I can read books for pleasure!

Two weeks ago I mentioned the Guernsey Literary Potato Peel Pie Society and highly recommend it!

I also wanted to mention the book Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I believe this is actually teen fiction, but I found it so fascinating that I can't wait to read the next book in this series (it's on hold at the library...I just have to get there before the hold expires!)Image from Amazon.com

In The Hunger Games, life as we know it has ended due to wars. The government holds hunger games to remind the people who is in charge. During these hunger games, select youth from each district fight each other to the death. Whoever wins receives riches and glory, but is it worth it? The book is captivating, and I'll admit I actually liked this better than Twilight (gasp!).

  3. If you like teen fiction and fantasy - check out the series by Scott Westerfield, The Pretties, The Uglies, and The Specials.

  4. I think I'd better look for Hunger Games at my next trip to the library, especially since we seem to have the same taste in books! ;)
