We had our first freezing rain of the season yesterday and it was fascinating. I grew up in New Mexico and have spent the last several years in Utah, so this was totally new. All of the bushes around our complex look like the picture above.
When I poked my head outside I could hear the ice crackling in the trees as a light breeze blew by. It makes sense now how entire trees can fall; they are frozen and can't bear the weight of the ice.
My husband was sent home early from school yesterday and the entire campus is closed today because of the freezing rain. It still boggles my mind, but it's so beautiful.
Best yet, the pine tree out front looks like a fiber-optic tree. I love it!

ReplyDeleteStopping by from Friday Follow...I was stuck in Oregon once because of an ice storm. It was incredibly beautiful to see but a pain in the neck to live through. :)
